2023

This year we are returning to our balance of supporting carer wellbeing with information based meetings. These are intended to provided essential information, signpost to support services and offer training in skills necessary for the caring role. Although we like to plan our programme 6 months in advance, we like to be flexible in order to be able to respond to any special requests from our carer members. It's possible, therefore, that some of the following might change.

January 27th - Energy efficiency advice with Act on Energy. Our companions will enjoy a craft-based activity. Click here to see our poster with more details. (Opens in a pop-up window).

February 24th - Carers and companions will enjoy a visit by professional Ukrainian violinist Hanna Sokolyk who is living with her host family in Kineton. You can find more details on our poster, here.

March 24th - a demonstration of wet felting by Jacqui Smithson.  Our companions will be doing a bit of gardening. You can find pictures of Jacqui's beautiful work in our newsletter, here and a poster here.

April 28th - a visit from the Fire Service - an opportunity to update your understanding of best practices in home and fire safety with Wayne Cooke from the Leamington Fire Prevention team. You can find a poster for this meeting here.

May 26th - British Motor Museum; a team of volunteers will bring motoring artefacts and photographs to jog the memories of carers and Companions

June 27th - The Samaritans are not just about suicide. The Outreach team will explain just what they offer.

July 28th - a meeting without a speaker. An opportunity to enjoy a relaxing mini-massage with therapist Anita and to spend a little while, if you wish, with you own creative project (such as sewing or knitting) that you may not have had time for lately. We'll finish the morning with some music for Carers and Companions together

August 25th - we're off to the National Herb Centre to enjoy coffee and cake and wonder round the garden centre - if you wish.

September 22nd - the Red Cross will give you some vital skills to be able to administer some possibly life-saving first aid.

October 27th - another meeting with no speaker

November 24th - to be advised

December 8th - our festive meeting

2022

Following the difficult time our carers have experienced during the pandemic, during 2022 we spent a lot of time at meetings looking at carer wellbeing. 2022 was our 10th Anniversary year and so we spent time creating a celebratory work of art.

Our meetings for the second half of the year were:

July  - Our carers will be discussed ideas for motivating the person we care for

August 26th - We enjoyed coffee and cake at the National Herb Centre

September 23rd - Thanks to a Carers' Wellbeing small grant from Warwickshire County Council we enjoyed an outing to the British Motor Museum.

October 28th - Penny Varley worked with both carers and companions to complete our celebratory work of art.

November 25th - We celebrated our 10th Anniversary

December 9th - Our seasonal meeting with refreshments and entertainment.
